The Countdown!

Christmas Countdown - Christmas Layouts

I can't believe Christmas is so close!!! The time has just flown by so fast and I still have tons of stuff to do!!! Sometimes it feels like its going so fast and furious that I all I can do is just sit and watch it fly past me! I hate that!! Well, back to more crafting for today!

Latest WIP

simply square buttonSo I've been working on the quilting on this one lately. I literally put this one together in 4 days. It's not the greatest sewing but I had to slam it out to get the meandering done on the long arm before mom left town. Anyway, here is the WIP. I found the pattern in Fabric Trends. I absolutely love this quilt! I think its funny... the ones that I absolutely love always seem to have the most mistakes! I may have to do this pattern over again. My frustration on this pattern was that there was so much give in the fabric on the bias of the triangles that the blocks all turned out different sizes. I find that so frustrating because I KNOW I'm not pulling on the fabric. It just happens... Any advice?? It's much appreciated!
I didn't quilt the baskets on the long arm. I am in the middle of quilting them on my Janome 6500. I find that I have more control over stitching straight lines on it...

Gobble Til Ya Wobble!

Is it really almost Thanksgiving?? Holy Moly!! This year has just flown by! Time to start gearing up for the holidays! I wanted to share this cute little turkey I made a couple years ago... I use him every year! I don't recall which company made the pattern but it sure is cute!!

Another Gifty Item..

I have a whole stack of these little potholders to make. They are super easy to make! I cut out a bunch to sew up for Christmas to give away with goodies... I will post more as I get them done.. This one turned out pretty good. I don't think I have any Halloween potholders so this is a first! Hmmm, maybe I'll make a pumpkin roll and break it in! What do you think?? :)

The Quilt From *H *E *double *hockey sticks*!!!!

simply square buttonI finally finished this one after a long time of dreading the work in front of me... Each block has 64 individual squares and over 100 seams.. That makes over 2000 pieces for the whole quilt.. This project seemed to never end!! I started it back in April. The task was so daunting that I dreaded every minute of sewing it together. I spent so much time chain piecing and ironing that I even burned a hole in my ironing board cover! Yikes! My goal was to make perfect points on the blocks, but after 2 blocks I kinda-sorta didn't care! Even though some of them did not come out as planned, the whole quilt turned out pretty good! By the time I got to the point of actually quilting I decided to bag the idea of quilting a nice pattern on the front and just do a basic meander over it so I could just get it done--brainlessly. The quilt is not quite done in these pictures. I still have the binding to put on..

Halloween Fun...

I made both these items quite a few years back... Boy you can really tell the difference in my quilting! There is no binding on it, and it wasn't truly quilted... But its still a fun little wall hanging! I added raffia to the dowel to create the broom and wrapped it with jute twine. One of the sayings on the quilt is "if the broom fits, ride it!" :) I also stitched this bread cloth.. I haven't stitched in a very long time! ...at least not with embroidery thread!

Table Runner WIP

This is a table runner Work In Progress... I love the fabrics! They are by Benartex and Nancy Halvorsen (Cider Mill Road). The colors have an Autumn feel. On this one I didn't use a pattern. I did plan it out, though, before I started. I still have the quilting left to do before it is done! I will show more pics when it is done. The days are looking more and more like Fall around here. I can't wait to get it done so I can use it!

More from the quilt rack and WIP

This is a quilt my mom has been working on. At the time of this photo it was a Work In Progress. I believe it is done by now, but I don't have any pictures of the finished project... (I will post as soon as I have one!) The pattern used is the same pattern I am working with on the Cider Mill quilt. This particular quilt is very tedious to put together! She got hers all done--I'm soooo jealous!

This is another one mom put together. This one is done with the salmon colored fabrics.. I absolutely love them!! I believe she hand appliqued all the round pieces... She is so fast at doing all of that! I can't do it that fast!!! Either that or she just has a ton of patience!

Memo Board Project

Well I finally put together my memo board. This one uses a canvas instead of foam board or other material. I had to buy a staple gun to finish the project. I thought it turned out pretty cute. But I am considering putting it in a frame...

Autumn Quilt Finished!

Life has been so unbelievably hectic this summer! But I managed to finish this Fall quilt just in time for Fall. It's a drizzly day here in the NW so it's perfect timing! Time to start lovin' on that quilt! I started working on this one back in late May/early June... I thought it turned out very pretty! The inspiration for this quilt came from the border fabric. The blended Autumn colors were so eye-catching. I used 22 different fabrics in this quilt. It is very fat-quarter friendly. In fact, with the 22 different colors I ended up with enough extra fabric cut out for the leaves that I could almost create another one. It was actually quite mind-boggling to try to put together! For every row that was stitched I had to plan out the next row because of the exchange of fabrics for each block. Crazy! I saw this pattern online somewhere and mathed the measurements out.. The quilting on this one was totally random. I didn't use any pantos--it all came from me wee little brain.. lol

Quilter's Stimulus Package

Elaine is having a great little giveaway! You can check it out on her blog HERE ... Can't wait to see what the surprise is!

Zoo Quilt COMPLETED!!!

It's done! It's done!! All I have to do is write up the directions and pattern and package it up to sell now! I had so much fun with this quilt. It is being gifted to my great nephew next weekend. I wish I could make a few changes on it... If I could I would make the trunk on the elephant a slightly darker color of thread. I think that would make it pop! And if I make this pattern again I might change the colors of the churn dash 'frame' around the animals and make each of them a different color.

Kokopelli quilt

This is a quilt my mom made. She and my father are snowbirds and spend their winters in Arizona. Mom found this fun fabric and had to make a Kokopelli quilt. I love this quilt! The colors are just awesome!
