Woodsy quilt...

This quilt was made for my brother. This first picture is the quilt before it was quilted... I typically do not use panels on my quilts, but my brother loved them and I had them so it was deemed his. This one was definitely a challenge because there were no coordinates with the panels. So I spent a little time trying to match colors with the Maywood Studios Flannels. The second and third pics are of the quilt after it was quilted. The binding has been attached but not sewn down. I'm just so glad this quilt is finished! And my brother loves it! Merry Christmas everyone!

Lady Bug Quilt

This sweet little quilt was made for a friend of mine. I found these lady bugs at Joann's and had to buy them. The lady bugs were cut out using my Cricut machine. I found that it was rather difficult to use the Cricut for this purpose and ended up just using the image cut out on cardstock to trace onto the heat n bond. Even though I couldn't get them to cut out, I still got really good pieces from it, and hand cutting it didn't take long. Here are a few pics. The back is made with microfleece fabric. My mom and I have been using Microfleece on the past few projects and found that it makes a really fun quilt!

Completed Halloween Project

So I took the pattern for Happy Jack and added a little more to him and turned it into a pillow. The intent was to put it into a contest at a local craft store, but then they hired me so I was disqualified! Bummer! So here is my creation! I even contemplated putting some battery operated lights on him too, but there wasn't enough time for that!

Meet Jack!!

I love Halloween! And I love Fall. Today has been one of the first gloomy days of the season, and very fitting since it is the first day of school. Since I've been in the Autumn mood I decided to put together this little Jack-o-lantern 12 x 12 mini quilt. I've been having fun sewing this one on my tabletop quilter! He's so cute that I couldn't resist! These are so easy that I ended up cutting out 4 different sets. Hopefully I will have something in my Etsy shop soon. **wink**

NW Quilting Expo 2010

It's hard to believe but Expo is here!!! Mom and I went down yesterday to check out the goods! And boy did they have some! A group from Tillamook had numerous antique/vintage quilt tops they were displaying for onlookers. Some of them were sooo cool looking. I did not even think to get pictures (and not sure they wanted anyone to take any) of these fabulous creations. :( Here are a few pics I did take though! This was a mini quilt measuring about 15 long and 12 wide... This is another mini quilt. I think this one was about 12 x 12...

Machine Quilting as a business

So I'm seriously considering investing in a professional machine to start a business in Machine Quilting.. I am wondering, though, how much to charge for machine quilting. If you have any ideas, knowledge, etc. please leave me a comment! All of your thoughts are appreciated!

Joanna Figueroa with a new Fig Tree line and more fun patterns!

I found these online and had to share! How can you pass up inspiration?

Quilt for my Dad...

This is a quilt I am putting together for my dad. I found this batik with the medicine bear and bear paw on it and thought it was perfect for him. He loves to snowbird, and they spend most of their time in AZ, so this was perfect for him! For the backing I used a microfleece. I was a little nervous about using it because of the stretchiness of the fabric but I sewed the backing selvage to selvage and eliminated most of the stretching. I really like how it looks too! The stitches give the microfleece an embossed look. I think my next few quilts will have the microfleece on the back! It was fun to use!

Another WIP

Here is my latest Work In Progress... This one is taking me forever because I had to stop in the middle of it and take my Janome 6500 in to get a little tune-up... I'm so glad I did, though, because it sounds so much better!!! It makes me fall in love with it all over again!!
I found this quilt pattern on someone else's blog. I do not recall which blog it was, so if you are the one who made this please speak up so I can link to your blog! I love this pattern. And the quilt is very scrappy! I will post more pics as I get it done!
Update: This quilt is by Mary. You can see her quilt design here at MaryQuilts.com. Thanks to BearCreekQuilter for the info!!!!

Fall Mini Quilt Swap--Quilting Bloggers

I've been lazy.... I have had this one completed, sent out, and my wonderful swap buddy Cheryl has received this creation but I haven't posted it yet! So here it is! I found a similar quilt online and decided to change it up a bit... This is what I came up with! I loved doing this swap because the quilt was small enough that I could use my tabletop machine to quilt it. I have gotten into the habit of quilting on the long arm so much that I forgot how fun it is to just play around on the tabletop!
I sewed apples in each of the 4 corners...

Happy 2010!! And Another Thread Catcher!

Christmas was so unbelievably hectic that I just didn't have time to blog! Here are a few things I made while I was away..... I put this Abbey Thread Catcher together as a gift for my mom. She loved it!!! I thought it turned out pretty good!

I also put together quite a few more of the these heart shaped potholders. They are so easy to make!!! And they are always a hit with the family...

Oh yeah! And I changed up the blog a bit. What do ya think?? Here's hoping that 2010 will bring much happiness and creativity! :)
